Reston Station
Client Requirements
Our client was awarded the upgrade of Reston Station, including the new ‘Ribbon’ footbridge. The manufacture and supply of GRP Stair Treads was required, including Landings and Tactiles that could be pre cut accurately to intricate drawings to enable seamless install.
Thanks to our highly skilled operatives, we were able to produce and deliver on a tight schedule. Our VulcaGR!P® range was supplied along with tactile systems and all fixing adhesive, so our client could confidently leave this area of the project in our responsibility.
Given just 2-3 weeks to supply all materials to match exact cutting specification, we completed our delivery on time by supplying a call-off delivery service direct to site.

AfA Rail Passenger Footbridge Upgrade
The AfA (Access for All) scheme aims to make public areas more inclusive and easier to navigate for those with disabilities. Reston Station was recently upgraded in order to comply with these requirements.
Part of the upgrade involved updating external stairs which provided passenger access to an upper level. Our VulcaGR!P® range offered the perfect solution as the stair edges are in a contrasting colour which aids those with visual impairments, and tactiles plates were laid at the top and bottom of each flight of stairs.
Waux worked with Cairnhill Structures who were working on behalf of Main Contractor, Bam Nuttall, to deliver all products pre-cut specifically to detailed drawings, which enabled quicker and more efficient installation on site.
Projects Director at Cairnhill Structures commented that,
Waux’ communication and products were first class on this project, with a service to match.”
