Bassetts Bridge Staircase
A new access point was required from the Network Rail depot down to the line near Bassetts Bridge.
Waux fabricated a GRP embankment staircase to provide safe access to the track.
Once fabricated, the staircase was installed on concrete foundations, with dig-in posts supporting the stringers.

Rail Trackside
Network Rail has been upgrading sites around the country to improve safety for its site operatives working near the live rail. A new build staircase was required near Bassetts Bridge, in Wigston, which led from the rail depot down to the tracks.
GRP was specified as the build material for the staircase, a common choice in the Rail Industry due to the non-conductive properties and other benefits that it offers.
After quoting and winning the project, Waux worked closely with the main contractor and MHB Consultants to close out any design queries ready for sign-off.
Once approved by the main contractor, the access structure was manufactured in our workshop then delivered to site in prefabricated units once the client was ready for installation.
In simple kit form, the GRP staircase was quickly installed, meaning operatives could use the new access point within hours of delivery.
After project completion, Waux continued to assist the client with the handover documentation, who decided to take advantage of our Warranty Policy.
