Waux holds a superior range of GRP anti-slip stair treads, widely known as VulcaGR!P®, incorporating the highest quality anti-slip properties, with a high vision front edge combined in the manufacture of surface texture, meeting all AFA (Access for All) regulations. VulcaGR!P® stair treads are a fast and cost-effective way to upgrade existing staircases and footbridges. Delivered direct to your site, cut to size and pre-drilled, our stair tread range is easy to install and maintenance free. VulcaGR!P® Stair treads can also be manufactured to any RAL or British Standards (BS) colour, as seen at the LOROL (London Overground) upgrade scheme.

Waux VulcaGR!P® Stair Treads exceed a reading of 80 PTV in wet conditions in accordance with BS7676: Part 2; 2002 Pendulum tests. For LUL applications, this has been tested to SATRA TM144. Also manufactured in phenolic resins, it passes BS6853 toxic fume, smoke density, emissions, and surface spread of flame testing.

Waux VulcaGR!P® GRP stair treads are designed, tested, and manufactured to give the highest performance for anti-slip and anti-wear as requested by Highways and Network Rail.
They are designed specifically to eliminate slip hazards in public, industrial and commercial spaces.
VulcaGR!P® stair treads are manufactured from three key components: a GRP Substrate (flat, profiled or hand laid up), isophthalic polyester resin and silicon carbide grit. It is this coating process that lends the product its extremely high resistance to impact, abrasion, most common solvents, chemicals, acids, and hydrocarbons.
With a strong commitment to ethical sourcing, the GRP substrate is produced under license by a manufacturer accredited to BS EN ISO9002. The silicon carbide grit, that coats the surface of the VulcaGR!P® stair treads, provides a long-life span, and is also produced under a manufacturer accredited to BS EN ISO9002.

The VulcaGR!P® stair tread range has been designed to meet the AfA/DDA requirements coupled with the HSE and Rail anti-slip standards, but can be used as a tread repair product, surface mounted. This gives many more years use to an existing stairway, giving longevity and medium to heavy use properties to the front of the step edge, where most of the impact will occur. With varying resin formulae, this product can be used in over ground or sub-surface areas.

LONDON UNDERGROUND APPROVAL

To meet the demands of approved anti-slip products in the Rail industry, specifically the London Underground, Waux VulcaGR!P® range manufactured in GP Glass 1 & Phenolic resins was tested in accordance with London Underground E6464 A2 Engineering Standards (SATRA TM144).

Conclusion:

“With regard to slip resistance, the sample submitted under reference VulcaGR!P antislip surface finish – GP, Class 1 & Phenolic Resins has satisfied the requirements of London Underground E6464 A2 Engineering Standard.”
