Mytchett Place
An old timber staircase at Mytchett Place was in disrepair.
In the interests of public safety, a complete redesign to replace the staircase was issued.
Waux completed the entire project in 2 months, including a prior set-up at our workshop in South London.

Mytchett Place, Surrey
Pedestrian Staircase Newbuild
An old timber staircase at Mytchett Place was in disrepair and a replacement was needed in order to maintain public safety.
Our client, Taziker Industrial, was awarded the installation of the new staircase.
As the replacement staircase was a new build, a GRP structural stair tread system was specified. Waux supplied ZedSPAN® to ensure a long-lasting system with a design life in excess of 35 years.
A unique feature of ZedSPAN® is that a range of our front edge stair nosings are compatible with the tread. For this project, VulcaGR!P® GRP Stair Edge Nosings were selected, based on the footfall this area receives. As the front edge wears over time, the stair edges can simply be removed and replaced, rather than the complete tread.

Waux took on the task of installing the ZedSPAN® system here at our workshop in Coulsdon, setting up the steel stringers, cutting and drilling each tread and landing to size.
All components were then disassembled and delivered for easy reassembly on site.
In addition to supplying the treads and landings, Waux also provided the DDA compliant steel handrails, as well as the side railings.
Thanks to prior setup completed by Waux, our client could have confidence that the system would be compatible with the structure, and this enabled a smooth install.
ZedSPAN’s superior design life makes it a worthwhile investment for any new build, and pedestrians will be able to use these stairs for many years to come.
