The latest phase on the Minet Infant School has now been completed!

Waux joined the project during Phase 2, to manufacture bespoke GRP solutions to meet rooftop access needs.

Back-of-house areas are sometimes overlooked. However, our client realised the importance of providing safe access between roof levels. The varying heights and angled roof pitches were complex to navigate and required a bespoke product for engineers working on the roof.

Following an initial site survey, a solution was proposed for a large asymmetrical hopover to clear the height difference, and smaller stairs for accessing the sloped roof section.

Waux worked with the client and the project engineers to create a design that included outrigger support legs for extra stability. Detailed CAD drawings were then adjusted, which were approved prior to fabrication.

Our specialist fabrication team at Waux then worked to these drawings, combining GridEX® Grating Treads, TrekRAIL® Handrail and GRP profiles to construct several bespoke access structures.

Following another visit to site to approve installation in time for project phase handover, Waux assessed further access points and fabricated additional GRP structures within a short timeframe.

The lightweight properties of Waux GRP hopovers allowed for easy installation on-site, and thanks to the anti-slip surface, these structures will enhance service engineer safety in all weather conditions.
