Safe walking routes and access points were required at roof level for engineers and maintenance personnel.
Waux provided a rooftop access package including GRP stepovers, hopovers and access stairs.
Waux fabrication team manufactured bespoke solutions, working to approved drawings before delivery to site.

Education
After 8 years, the construction of Heathside Walton-on-Thames School has come to a close.
Waux joined the project in the final stages, as we were firstly contacted to supply GRP riser flooring, then latterly to manufacture bespoke solutions to meet rooftop access needs.
Back-of-house areas, especially at roof level, are sometimes overlooked. However, our client realised the importance of providing safe access around and over obstacles for all areas at Heathside School.
The package included hopovers for crossing points over larger services, access stairs to reach higher levels such as roof hatches, and stepovers to provide easy walking routes over ductwork for engineers and maintenance personnel.
Waux worked with the client to provide detailed CAD drawings, which were approved prior to fabrication.
Our specialist fabrication team at Waux then worked to these drawings, culminating GridEX® Grating Treads, TrekRAIL® Handrail and GRP profiles to construct several bespoke access structures.
Thanks to close communication with the client, Waux provided a high level of service and after-care, fabricating additional structures to meet further requirements in time for project handover.
The lightweight properties of Waux GRP hopovers allow for easy installation on-site, and thanks to the anti-slip surface, these structures will enhance service engineer safety in all weather conditions.
