Black Rock Ramp
A new build ramp was designed to provide increased access around the Brighton area.
ZedSPAN® 524, a structural GRP deck plank that is extremely strong, lightweight and can withstand marine environments.
ZedSPAN® 524 Deck Planks were pultruded and cut to length to fit the width of Black Rock ramp, supplied with all necessary fixings for rapid installation.

As part of the rejuvenation of the Brighton Marina area, a new build ramp at Black Rock was installed, leading from Undercliff Walk to ASDA carpark.
As the ramp is public sector, it must meet stringent guidelines and loading requirements. Our new ZedSPAN® 524 Interlocking Deck Planks were a trusted product, as they have undergone third-party strength testing to a 3.3333x safety factor.
Waux were highly involved from the start of the project, working with the steel fabricators so that the steelwork could be designed to be compatible with the 78mm deep ZedSPAN GRP Deck Planks.
Once the steel frame was manufactured, Waux ZedSPAN® 524 Deck Planks were installed. The interlocking detail means that the planks slot together, secured by adhesive and fixings for simple install.
Any extra requirements were supplied as necessary to ensure the project was not delayed.
Once the construction of the ramp was complete, the entire unit was craned into position, made simple thanks to the lightweight properties of GRP.
The new ramp will improve the overall area and give increased accessibility to those with mobility restraints.
