Birmingham University Station
The project required the internal stairs throughout the new station building to be AfA Compliant.
OxClaw® EX85A Aluminium Stair Nosing was specified, with an anti-slip, high vision edge.
Over 500lm of stair nosings were installed across several main entrance staircases in Birmingham University Station by our trusted installers.

Birmingham, West Midlands
Rail Passengerside
On 28th January, the new buildings at Birmingham University Station opened to the public.
Previously, 3.5 million passengers a year passed through the old station which was inadequate for that volume of pedestrians.
Managed by main contractor Volker Fitzpatrick, the complex construction of the new building was a major feat of engineering, taking place over 3 years around a fully operational station and line.
Waux were pleased to play a part in this major project by providing internal finishes to the main building.
The main star of the show was OxClaw® EX85A, the anti-slip stair nosing that was installed on the main entrance staircases, of which all components are manufactured sustainably within the UK.
It is important that appearance and functionality are both considered in a project of this size. OxClaw® Aluminium Stair Nosings are heavy duty, and able to withstand the high level of footfall that this station has.
The finished results speak for themselves, an eye-catching, aesthetically pleasing finish to the impressive entrance hall, that is fully compliant with AfA (Access for All) Guidelines.
