WHAT MAKES THE ASTEP® ANTI-SLIP INSERTS SUPERIOR?
The inserts used in ASTEP® are manufactured from our VulcaGR!P® range. To meet the demands of approved anti-slip products in the Rail industry, specifically London Underground, Waux VulcaGR!P® manufactured in GP, Class 1 & Phenolic Resins was tested in accordance with London Underground E6464 A2 Engineering Standards (SATRA TM144).
The method of test is intended to assess the potential of slipping for people walking on a flooring material. It determines the coefficient of friction (CoF) between footwear outsoles and flooring surfaces under conditions simulating those experienced at the most critical parts of a typical walking step.
Measurements were taken in three directions and the results in the table below proved that it satisfied the requirements of London Underground (LUL).
Test Condition | Tested along | Tested across | Tested at 45⁰ | Pass/Fail CoF | Pass/Fail distance below 0/4 CoF
CoF | Distance CoF below 0.4 (mm) | CoF | Distance CoF below 0.4 (mm) | Distance CoF below 0.4 (mm)
Dry | 0.77 | 0 | 0.76 | 0 | 0.81 | 0 | Pass | Pass |
Wet | 0.79 | 0 | 0.78 | 0 | 0.76 | 0 | Pass | Pass |
The conclusion: “With regard to the slip resistance, the samples submitted under reference ‘VulcaGR!P Antislip surface finish – GP, Class 1 & Phenolic Resins’ has satisfied the requirements of London Underground E6464 A2 Engineering Standard – Rolling stock floor coverings.
